AGAVE-INULIN

FIBER-BLU® Agave Inulin

Fiber-Blu® Agave Inulin is offered in both powder and liquid forms. It is obtained by physical extraction and purification of the branched fructans occurring naturally in the Blue Agave plant Tequilana Weber.

Inulins are a group of naturally occurring polysaccharides produced by many types of plants, they belong to a class of fibers known as fructans.

In terms of nutrition, Inulin is considered a form of soluble/insoluble fiber and is used in many food products to increase the level of fiber. Many popular food products ranging from cereals to health bars use Inulin as the primary fiber ingredient.

What are the differences between Powder and Liquid Inulin?

One is in liquid, syrup, form and the other is a flow-able white powder. The key difference because of this is the shelf life. Powder inulin has a 3-year shelf life whereas the liquid inulin is only 6 months.

How does Agave Inulin compare to other types of Inulin?

There are three main sources of inulin: Agave, Chicory, and Jerusalem Artichoke. While each of the three sources is used to create inulin with similar nutritional content, agave inulin is grown and harvested in a manner that is more ecologically friendly. In addition, it’s a much hardier crop than either Jerusalem artichoke or chicory, ensuring a reliable supply of inulin product each year. Another primary difference between agave inulin and chicory/JA inulin is the chain length as agave inulin has a longer chain verse the other two.

Is Inulin a Prebiotic?

Inulin is a prebiotic — a type of plant fiber that promotes the growth of good bacteria in the gut. Because inulin fiber passes through the stomach undigested, it’s a great source of energy for bacterial flora in the gut. This beneficial bacterial flora improves the function of the gut, resulting in better gastrointestinal health.
